I had a great time visiting the north east coast for the first time. We drove up from DC to Maine and were able to see a lot along the way. We ended up in Bar Harbor, exploring Acadia.

Our campsite was wet (it rained every day) and full of mosquitos. When I say full of mosquitos, if you did anything but run – you had about 3 seconds before you were basically swarmed by them. The bugs in Maine can be BAD. Luckily we missed the black flies.

We did a lot of hiking in Acadia. You could hike there for weeks and not see everything. The beehive trail was my favorite, but the photo below is from Acadia Mountain. (Shoutout to our Prana pants and Exofficio tops)

With all the rain it was very foggy just about every day but still beautiful. The town of Bar Harbor is small but full of great places to hang out and eat seafood. If you’re lucky enough to get a clear sky, Cadillac Mountain is the first place you can view the sunrise in the United States. We woke up at 5am to witness this and saw nothing but clouds. If you go, be smart and check the weather first!

We ended the trip in Kennebunk/Kennebunkport. We ate at KBC and I did get to ride in a fire truck around town. It pays to know the locals.

Maine was great. I can’t wait to go back!
